Requirements
- For master’s programs, there is a minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate degrees.

- For all applicants whose native language is not English, they must provide evidence of having passed one of the following tests with a score of at least 100.
- The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL iBT test is 80. The department does not use paper-based exam versions; please consult your institution’s website for more information about their testing requirements and policies.

- Transcripts: If you are applying to Columbia University as a graduate student, you must submit your transcript(s) from each institution where you have earned a degree.
- Letters of Recommendation: You must have three letters of recommendation submitted by recommenders who can speak to your academic achievements, intellectual promise and potential for success in graduate study at Columbia University. Your recommenders should be professors or others who can comment on these qualities in detail; family members will not be considered references unless they also work at the same institution as an administrator or faculty member and know you well enough to comment on these qualities directly (not through hearsay).
- Test Scores: All applicants must take either the GRE General Test or GMAT (if applicable) before submitting their applications; scores must be sent directly from ETS after taking one of these tests within five years before the application date. Scores older than five years will only be accepted with an official score report from ETS showing when they were taken/scheduled for delivery for us to verify authenticity before considering them valid documents for admission purposes only – no exceptions!
