Undergraduate Admissions

Duke University admissions process is highly selective, and Duke University consider various factors when making admissions decisions.

Application Requirements

To apply for undergraduate admission at Duke University, students must submit the following materials:

  • Common Application or Coalition Application
  • $85 application fee or fee waiver request
  • High school transcript
  • Standardized test scores (ACT or SAT, with or without writing)
  • Two teacher recommendations
  • Optional alumni interview (offered in some regions)

In addition to these materials, students are encouraged to submit any additional materials they believe will help the admissions committee better understand their achievements and potential. These materials may include a resume, a personal statement, or supplemental essays.

Application Deadlines
The application deadline for regular decisions is January 2, and admissions decisions are released in late March. Students who apply through early decision must submit their application by November 1 and will receive an admissions decision by mid-December.
Admissions Criteria
